Description

Catch A Husband Cake is a delightful dessert featuring a soft vanilla cake layered with a creamy filling and topped with homemade caramel sauce.

Ingredients

  • For the Soft Vanilla Cake
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup whole milk, at room temperature
  • For the Creamy Filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, cold
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Homemade Caramel Topping
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • ½ cup heavy cream, warmed
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional Garnishes
  • 2 tablespoons chopped toasted pecans
  • A pinch of flaky sea salt
  • Extra whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9 × 13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes.
  7. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  8. Beat the softened cream cheese until smooth, then mix in the sweetened condensed milk.
  9. Whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix with cold milk until thickened, then fold into the cream cheese mixture.
  10. Whip the cold heavy cream until medium-stiff peaks form and fold into the filling.
  11. Make the caramel by melting sugar in a saucepan, then adding butter and cream carefully.
  12. Spread the creamy filling over the cooled cake and drizzle with caramel sauce.
  13. Refrigerate for at least 3–4 hours before serving.
  14. Slice and serve cold, optionally with extra caramel sauce or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Ensure the cake is completely cooled before adding the filling.
  • Refrigerating the filling helps it set properly for spreading.
  • Watch the caramel closely to prevent burning.
