Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped (about 4 cups)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the cabbage is wilted and tender, about 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir until well blended.
- Add the cooked cabbage mixture to the cheese mixture and stir until evenly coated.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a smoky flavor, add 1/2 cup of cooked bacon or ham to the cabbage mixture.
- Swap out the cheddar for Gruyère cheese for a more gourmet taste.
