Description
Cinnamon Roll Apple Lasagna is a deliciously unique dessert that combines layers of cinnamon rolls, cream cheese filling, and spiced apples, topped with a crunchy streusel.
Ingredients
- 2 cans (12.4 ounces each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed
- The icing packets included with the cinnamon rolls
- 1–2 tablespoons milk, if needed to thin the icing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick cooking spray.
- Open the cinnamon roll cans and separate the rolls. Set aside the icing packets for later. Cut each cinnamon roll into smaller pieces or gently flatten the rolls.
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Beat until combined.
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
- In a small bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the streusel topping. Add the cold butter cubes and rub until coarse crumbs form. Refrigerate.
- Arrange half of the cinnamon roll dough pieces across the bottom of the prepared baking dish, pressing them gently together. Brush lightly with melted butter and bake for 8–10 minutes.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the partially baked cinnamon roll base. Arrange the apple filling on top, then place the remaining cinnamon roll dough pieces over the apples.
Notes
- For best texture, slice the apples thinly and evenly.
- Make sure to refrigerate the streusel topping while assembling the dessert.
- Leave small gaps in the top layer of cinnamon rolls for steam to escape.
