Description

A delicious and savory dish featuring fresh green beans coated in a sweet and savory glaze with crispy bacon.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the bacon. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate, reserving about 1 tablespoon of the bacon drippings.
  3. Prepare the green beans. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 3–4 minutes. Drain well and transfer them to the prepared baking dish.
  4. Make the glaze. In a bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, Dijon mustard, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Combine. Pour the butter mixture evenly over the green beans and toss gently to coat. Sprinkle the crispy bacon over the top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the green beans are tender and the glaze is bubbling.
  7. Serve hot, spooning some of the caramelized bacon glaze over the green beans.

Notes

  • For extra caramelization, broil the green beans for 1–2 minutes at the end, watching closely so the brown sugar glaze doesn’t burn.
