Description
Dirt Cake is a fun and delicious dessert that resembles a pot of dirt, made with layers of creamy filling and crushed chocolate cookies.
Ingredients
- 36 chocolate sandwich cookies, such as Oreos
- 5 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 225 g (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2¾ cups (660 ml) cold milk
- 1 package (102 g / 3.6 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 340 g (12 oz) whipped topping, thawed
Instructions
- Crush the cookies: Place the chocolate sandwich cookies in a food processor and pulse until they resemble fine crumbs. Set aside about ½ cup for the topping.
- Make the cream cheese mixture: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, then beat until creamy.
- Prepare the pudding: In a separate bowl, whisk together cold milk and instant pudding mix for about 2 minutes, until thickened.
- Gently fold the pudding into the cream cheese mixture. Fold in the whipped topping until smooth and fluffy.
- Layer the cake: Spread a layer of crushed cookies into the bottom of a 9×13-inch (23×33-cm) dish. Add a layer of the creamy filling.
- Continue alternating layers, finishing with a generous layer of cookie crumbs on top.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Serve cold and enjoy!
Notes
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, use double the amount of chocolate cookies.
- This dessert can be made a day in advance for better flavor.
