Description
Fried Rosti Potatoes are crispy, golden-brown potato patties that are perfect as a side dish or snack.
Ingredients
- 2 large russet potatoes (about 1.5 pounds), peeled and grated
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- Chopped fresh chives or parsley (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much moisture as possible. This will help achieve a crispy texture.
- In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, salt, black pepper, flour, and beaten egg. Mix until well combined.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. You want enough oil to cover the bottom of the skillet.
- Once the oil is hot, scoop about 1/2 cup of the potato mixture and form it into a patty. Carefully place it in the skillet. Repeat with additional patties, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Adjust the heat as necessary to prevent burning.
- Once cooked, transfer the patties to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped chives or parsley if desired.
Notes
- For added flavor, mix in grated cheese, such as cheddar or Parmesan, into the potato mixture before frying.
- Experiment with spices by adding garlic powder, onion powder, or smoked paprika to the mixture for a different taste profile.
