Description
A delicious recipe for Garlic Mussels in a creamy sour cream sauce, perfect for seafood lovers.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh mussels, cleaned and debearded
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Crusty bread (for serving)
Instructions
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour in the white wine and bring to a simmer. Allow it to cook for about 2 minutes to reduce slightly.
- Add the cleaned mussels to the pot, cover, and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened. Discard any that remain closed.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring gently to combine.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately with crusty bread for dipping.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when sautéing the garlic and onion.
- Substitute the white wine with vegetable broth for a non-alcoholic version while still maintaining flavor.
