Ingredients
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
- 1½ cups sweetened shredded coconut
- 1½ cups chopped pecans
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup milk chocolate chips
- ½ cup unsalted butter, sliced into thin pats
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until smooth and pour into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle semi-sweet and milk chocolate chips evenly over the batter.
- In a bowl, mix sweetened condensed milk, coconut, pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon (if using). Spoon this mixture over the cake batter without stirring.
- Place thin slices of butter evenly across the top.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is slightly gooey.
- Allow the cake to cool for 15–20 minutes.
- Spoon warm servings into dessert bowls and top with optional garnishes like vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, toasted pecans, and toasted coconut.
