Description
Grandma’s Snowball Cookies are a classic holiday treat that are buttery, nutty, and coated in powdered sugar, making them a delightful addition to any festive gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup finely chopped pecans
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup powdered sugar, for coating
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and ½ cup powdered sugar until light and creamy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Fold in the finely chopped pecans until evenly distributed.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of dough at a time and roll into small balls. Place them about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the bottoms are lightly golden. The cookies should remain pale on top.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes.
- While still warm, gently roll each cookie in powdered sugar.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely, then roll them in powdered sugar a second time for that classic snowy coating.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
- Finely chopping the pecans gives the cookies a smoother, more delicate texture and makes them easier to roll into neat balls.
