Ingredients
- 500 g ground chicken
- 60 g breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 60 g feta cheese, crumbled
- ½ small red onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 250 g Greek yogurt
- 100 g cucumber, finely grated
- 1 small garlic clove, finely grated
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
- ¼ tsp salt
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the tzatziki by grating the cucumber and squeezing out excess liquid.
- Combine the cucumber with Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, dill, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well and refrigerate.
- In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, feta, red onion, garlic, parsley, dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
- Using wet hands, form the mixture into approximately 20–24 meatballs, about 30 g each.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in a single layer and cook for 10–12 minutes, turning until golden brown and cooked through.
- Alternatively, bake meatballs on a lined tray at 200°C for 18–22 minutes, turning once halfway through.
- Let the meatballs rest for 3–5 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm meatballs on a platter with tzatziki, garnished with dill, parsley, feta, and lemon wedges.
Notes
- Serve with warm pita bread, Greek salad, or roasted potatoes.
- Can be paired with cucumber and tomato salad, hummus, rice, or quinoa.
- Pickled red onions and Kalamata olives make great accompaniments.
