Description

Delicious Greek Chicken Meatballs served with a refreshing Tzatziki Sauce.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground chicken
  • 60 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 60 g feta cheese, crumbled
  • ½ small red onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 250 g Greek yogurt
  • 100 g cucumber, finely grated
  • 1 small garlic clove, finely grated
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tzatziki by grating the cucumber and squeezing out excess liquid.
  2. Combine the cucumber with Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, dill, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well and refrigerate.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, egg, feta, red onion, garlic, parsley, dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
  4. Using wet hands, form the mixture into approximately 20–24 meatballs, about 30 g each.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in a single layer and cook for 10–12 minutes, turning until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Alternatively, bake meatballs on a lined tray at 200°C for 18–22 minutes, turning once halfway through.
  7. Let the meatballs rest for 3–5 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve warm meatballs on a platter with tzatziki, garnished with dill, parsley, feta, and lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Serve with warm pita bread, Greek salad, or roasted potatoes.
  • Can be paired with cucumber and tomato salad, hummus, rice, or quinoa.
  • Pickled red onions and Kalamata olives make great accompaniments.
