Description
A delicious and juicy zucchini hamburger recipe that combines ground beef with finely grated zucchini for added moisture and flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium zucchini, finely grated
- ½ small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Pickles
- Mayonnaise or burger sauce
- 1 tbsp butter, for toasting buns
Instructions
- Grate the zucchini and place it in a clean kitchen towel. Squeeze firmly to remove as much excess moisture as possible.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, zucchini, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than your buns.
- Heat a large skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 4–5 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- Place a slice of cheddar on each patty during the final minute. Cover briefly until melted.
- Butter the cut sides of the buns and toast them in the skillet for 1–2 minutes, until golden.
- Spread mayonnaise or burger sauce over the buns. Add lettuce, the zucchini beef patty, tomato, and pickles.
- Serve hot with fries, potato wedges, or a fresh salad.
Notes
- The key to juicy but firm zucchini burgers is squeezing the grated zucchini to remove excess moisture.
