Description
A delicious recipe for Melt-In-Your-Mouth Roasted Onion with Cajun Butter, perfect as a side dish or appetizer.
Ingredients
- 2 large yellow onions
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- Peel the onions and cut off the top and bottom ends. Place each onion in the center of a large piece of aluminum foil.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Spread the Cajun butter mixture generously over the top of each onion, ensuring it seeps into the layers.
- Wrap each onion tightly in the aluminum foil, sealing the edges to prevent any butter from leaking out.
- Place the wrapped onions directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet. Roast for 45-60 minutes, or until the onions are tender and caramelized.
- Carefully unwrap the onions from the foil (watch out for steam) and transfer them to a serving dish. Drizzle any remaining Cajun butter from the foil over the top.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the Cajun butter mixture.
- You can also substitute the yellow onions with sweet onions for a milder flavor.
