Description

A delicious and creamy no-bake dessert that combines layers of vanilla wafers, bananas, and a rich pudding filling.

Ingredients

  • 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240 mL) heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ cup (30 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 package (96 g) instant vanilla or banana cream pudding mix
  • 2 cups (480 mL) cold whole milk
  • 1 package (about 300 g) vanilla wafers
  • 45 ripe but firm bananas, sliced
  • ½ cup (120 mL) whipped cream or whipped topping
  • 23 tablespoons crushed vanilla wafers, for topping
  • Banana slices, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the pudding: Whisk the instant pudding mix with cold milk for about 2 minutes, until thickened. Refrigerate for 5 minutes.
  2. Make the cream layer: Beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  3. Whip the cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Gently fold it into the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Combine with pudding: Fold about half of the pudding into the cream cheese mixture to create a smooth, creamy filling.
  5. Start layering: Arrange a single layer of vanilla wafers in the bottom of a 9 × 13-inch (23 × 33 cm) dish.
  6. Add bananas: Arrange a layer of sliced bananas over the cookies.
  7. Add the cream: Spread half of the creamy filling evenly over the bananas.
  8. Repeat: Add another layer of vanilla wafers, bananas, and the remaining creamy filling.
  9. Finish: Spread the remaining pudding over the top. Add whipped cream and sprinkle with crushed vanilla wafers. Arrange a few banana slices on top just before serving.
  10. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. This allows the cookies to soften and the layers to set properly.
  11. Serve: Slice into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

  • For best results, use ripe but firm bananas to prevent browning.
  • This dessert can be made a day in advance for enhanced flavor.
  • Feel free to substitute with other flavors of pudding if desired.
