Description

Delicious slow cooker caramel apple dumpling bombs filled with spiced apples and drizzled with caramel sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce, divided
  • 1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish or similar-sized casserole.
  2. Prepare the apple filling: Combine diced apples, granulated sugar, flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl. Mix until evenly coated.
  3. Prepare the dough: Separate the crescent dough and gently press the seams together as needed to make 6 portions. Flatten each portion slightly.
  4. Fill the dumpling bombs: Place a spoonful of apple filling and a teaspoon of caramel sauce in the center of each dough portion. Bring the edges together, pinch tightly to seal, and shape into round balls.
  5. Arrange in the casserole: Place the dumpling bombs seam-side down in the prepared baking dish, leaving a little space between them.
  6. Make the caramel butter sauce: Mix melted butter, brown sugar, remaining cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Pour over the dumplings.
  7. Add the apple juice: Carefully pour the apple juice around the dumplings, not directly over their tops.
  8. Bake: Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown, the centers are cooked through, and the caramel sauce is bubbling.
  9. Finish with caramel: Let cool for 10 minutes, then drizzle with the remaining caramel sauce.
  10. Serve: Enjoy warm with the rich caramel apple sauce spooned over each dumpling bomb.

Notes
