Description

- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced (any color)
- 1 pound cabbage, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
- 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is wilted and tender.
- Add the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
- If desired, stir in the apple cider vinegar and sugar, and mix well. Cook for another minute to combine the flavors.
- If using, sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and add a splash of liquid smoke for flavor.
