Description
Strawberry Pretzel Salad is a delightful summer treat that combines a salty pretzel crust, a creamy cheese layer, and a sweet strawberry topping.
Ingredients
- 250 g salted pretzels
- 115 g unsalted butter, melted
- 50 g granulated sugar
- 225 g cream cheese, softened
- 100 g granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 240 ml heavy whipping cream
- 30 g powdered sugar
- 450–500 g fresh strawberries, sliced
- 170 g strawberry-flavoured jelly crystals
- 240 ml boiling water
- 240 ml cold water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Crush the pretzels into small pieces, leaving some slightly chunky for texture.
- Combine the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar. Press firmly into the bottom of a 23 × 33 cm baking dish.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, then remove and allow the crust to cool completely.
- Beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the completely cooled pretzel crust.
- Dissolve the strawberry jelly crystals in 240 ml boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved, then add 240 ml cold water.
- Refrigerate the jelly mixture for about 30–45 minutes, or until it has cooled and started to thicken slightly but is still pourable.
- Arrange the sliced strawberries over the cream cheese layer.
- Carefully pour the cooled strawberry gelatin over the strawberries.
- Refrigerate for at least 4–6 hours, preferably overnight, until completely set.
- Serve chilled, cutting into squares with a sharp knife.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing.
- Let the pretzel crust cool completely before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting.
- For best results, refrigerate overnight.
