Description

Strawberry Pretzel Salad is a delightful summer treat that combines a salty pretzel crust, a creamy cheese layer, and a sweet strawberry topping.

Ingredients

  • 250 g salted pretzels
  • 115 g unsalted butter, melted
  • 50 g granulated sugar
  • 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 240 ml heavy whipping cream
  • 30 g powdered sugar
  • 450500 g fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 170 g strawberry-flavoured jelly crystals
  • 240 ml boiling water
  • 240 ml cold water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Crush the pretzels into small pieces, leaving some slightly chunky for texture.
  3. Combine the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar. Press firmly into the bottom of a 23 × 33 cm baking dish.
  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes, then remove and allow the crust to cool completely.
  5. Beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  6. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
  7. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the completely cooled pretzel crust.
  8. Dissolve the strawberry jelly crystals in 240 ml boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved, then add 240 ml cold water.
  9. Refrigerate the jelly mixture for about 30–45 minutes, or until it has cooled and started to thicken slightly but is still pourable.
  10. Arrange the sliced strawberries over the cream cheese layer.
  11. Carefully pour the cooled strawberry gelatin over the strawberries.
  12. Refrigerate for at least 4–6 hours, preferably overnight, until completely set.
  13. Serve chilled, cutting into squares with a sharp knife.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing.
  • Let the pretzel crust cool completely before adding the cream cheese layer to prevent melting.
  • For best results, refrigerate overnight.
