Description

A delicious and indulgent dessert that combines the flavors of cinnamon rolls and apple pie in a warm, gooey lasagna.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls, with icing
  • 1 cup cream cheese frosting
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts, optional
  • ½ cup caramel sauce, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Lightly grease a 23 × 33 cm (9 × 13-inch) baking dish.
  2. Prepare the apples: Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples begin to soften.
  3. Prepare the cinnamon rolls: Open the cans and reserve the icing. Separate the rolls and gently flatten each one into a thin disc.
  4. Build the first layer: Arrange half of the flattened cinnamon rolls across the bottom of the baking dish, slightly overlapping them.
  5. Add the apples: Spread half of the warm apple mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls.
  6. Add the creamy layer: Drizzle or spread half of the cream cheese frosting over the apples.
  7. Repeat: Add another layer of flattened cinnamon rolls, followed by the remaining apples and cream cheese frosting. Finish with the remaining cinnamon roll pieces on top.
  8. Bake: Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 10–15 minutes, until the cinnamon rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Finish: Let the lasagna rest for about 5–10 minutes, then drizzle generously with the reserved cinnamon-roll icing and caramel sauce.
  10. Serve warm: Sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts and serve while warm and gooey.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of salt to the apple filling.
  • This dessert is best served warm for maximum gooeyness.
