Preparation
- Wash and slice the fresh oranges into 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick rounds, keeping rind intact.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over low heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Add orange slices to the warm syrup and simmer over low heat for about 45 minutes.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove candies and place them on a wire rack to cool for 6 to 8 hours.
- Brush with warmed syrup and dust with granulated sugar for a glossy finish before serving.
