Ingredients
  

Candies
  • 3 whole Fresh Oranges thinly sliced
  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar or coconut sugar for substitution
  • 1 cup Water
Optional Flavor Enhancements
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract optional
  • 1 pinch Ground Cinnamon optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash and slice the fresh oranges into 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick rounds, keeping rind intact.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water over low heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Add orange slices to the warm syrup and simmer over low heat for about 45 minutes.
  4. Use a slotted spoon to remove candies and place them on a wire rack to cool for 6 to 8 hours.
  5. Brush with warmed syrup and dust with granulated sugar for a glossy finish before serving.
