First Rise
- Transfer your dough into a greased bowl, covering it with a clean kitchen towel.
- Allow it to rise at room temperature for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
Cream Cheese Filling
- In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese with sugar, flour, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Add lemon juice and mix until well incorporated.
- Cover and refrigerate the filling.
Streusel Topping
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour and sugar.
- Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Chill the streusel in the refrigerator.
Shaping Kolaches
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide into 9 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cover and let them rise again for 2-3 hours.
Pre-Baking
