Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water 110°F to 115°F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Stir in the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  4. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  8. Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  9. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  11. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
