Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Samosa Pie
  1. Start by heating 2 tablespoons of ghee or butter in a large stockpot over medium heat. Add one chopped onion and caramelize it for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it turns golden-brown and sweetly fragrant.
  2. Next, stir in one minced jalapeño pepper and 3 minced garlic cloves, cooking for an additional minute until everything is aromatic.
  3. Add 1 pound of ground chicken to the pot, along with 1 teaspoon of garam masala, ½ teaspoon of turmeric, and salt to taste. Cook for about 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the chicken is no longer pink.
  4. Then, add 1.5 pounds of diced potatoes and about 1 cup of water. Cover the pot, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer for approximately 25 minutes.
  5. Once the potatoes are cooked, mix in 1 cup of green peas and ½ cup of chopped fresh cilantro. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  6. Transfer the filling to a greased baking dish. Roll out your pre-made pastry to fit over the top, ensuring it's slightly larger than the dish.
  7. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the Samosa Pie for about 25 minutes, or until the crust turns a beautiful golden brown.
