  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce can substitute with soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Golden Mountain sauce or similar soy sauce blend
  • 3 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar or coconut sugar
Dressing
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce or vegetarian alternative
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice or lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Thai chili flakes adjust based on spice tolerance
  • 2 tablespoons toasted rice powder
Salad
  • ¼ cup shallots thinly sliced
  • 1 handful coriander (cilantro) or parsley
  • 1 handful mint or basil
  • 2 stalks green onions finely chopped
  • 2 leaves kaffir lime leaves or lime zest

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Marinate the beef by mixing garlic, oyster sauce, Golden Mountain sauce, and sugar in a bowl. Add beef and coat thoroughly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  2. Grill the marinated beef on medium-high heat for 5-10 minutes per side until desired doneness is reached. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
  3. Slice the rested beef against the grain into thin strips.
  4. Make the dressing by combining fish sauce, lime juice, chili flakes, and toasted rice powder in a bowl.
  5. Combine sliced beef with dressing and toss gently. Fold in shallots, green onions, mint, cilantro, and kaffir lime leaves.
  6. Serve the salad immediately on a platter, optionally pairing with sticky or jasmine rice and fresh vegetables.
