Description

A delicious and easy-to-make dessert that combines the flavors of pecan pie with the simplicity of a dump cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup pecan halves, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, eggs, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Sprinkle about half of the chopped pecans evenly over the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Pour the pecan mixture over the nuts.
  5. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top. Do not stir.
  6. Drizzle any remaining melted butter evenly over the cake mix, making sure to cover as much of the dry mix as possible.
  7. Scatter the remaining chopped pecans and pecan halves over the top.
  8. Bake for 45–55 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the center is mostly set.
  9. Let cool for at least 20–30 minutes before serving so the pecan pie layer can thicken.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
