A delicious and easy-to-make dessert that combines the flavors of pecan pie with the simplicity of a dump cake.
Ingredients
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup pecan halves, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, eggs, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle about half of the chopped pecans evenly over the bottom of the baking dish.
- Pour the pecan mixture over the nuts.
- Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top. Do not stir.
- Drizzle any remaining melted butter evenly over the cake mix, making sure to cover as much of the dry mix as possible.
- Scatter the remaining chopped pecans and pecan halves over the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the center is mostly set.
- Let cool for at least 20–30 minutes before serving so the pecan pie layer can thicken.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
